Gnocchi Thursday

Once again we are returning to our favourite city. This will be our 13th (!) trip and the third time we have stayed in Testaccio. On our last visit we concentrated on cooking in our apartment so the plans this time are to eat out, especially at places new to us.
The flight and journey in to the city on the F1 train went smoothly and soon we were charging our travel passes for the week.

A five minute walk bought us to Casa della Robbia which was to be our home in Rome. After Massimo had equpped us with all the information we needed we hot footed to the Mercato and lunch at Mordi e Vai.

The hot beef pannini were as delicious as usual but even better was that we could now eat them seated at a table with wine/beer too.

The short walk back to the apartment took us past our favourite wolf

After unpacking we headed to the Protestant Cemetery.

We always find something new to discover here and often wonder at the stories behind the tombs

A quick trip on the tram takes us to our appointment with Sofia from The Eatery to pick up our pre - ordered baked goods which we plan to eat for breakfasts in the apartment.

It was so lovely to meet Sofia who I follow on instagram and where I watched our cinnamon rolls being prepared!
A walk along Circus Maximus bought us to the Rose Garden, now closed but with roses still in bloom.

We then headed to one of our favourite spots, the Orange Garden and that fabulous view of the city.

It  was quite busy here this evening and there was also quite a queue for the Keyhole so we passed on that view and headed back down to Tram Depot for refreshments.

Dinner tonight was at an old favourite, Piatto Romano where Andrea always explains the menu with great enthusiasm. Of course, as it is Thursday, I just had to have the gnocchi.

Then it was back across the piazza to our home in Rome
